R-Armenta-photo.jpgRafael immigrated  to the United States in 1980 and took up residence in Los Angeles, California. He began working for an El Pollo Loco restaurant as dish washer, then cook, cashier, and then was promoted to manager. Throughout those years, he learned all aspects of the business and received critical mentorship from a close colleague who knew about the industry and how to make a business successful.

In 1988, Rafael had the opportunity to buy his first small Mexican Taqueria and become his own boss. By 1993, he had the opportunity to buy his first El Pollo Loco restaurant in Modesto.

Rafael has worked hard to grow the business with the help of excellent employees and great managers.

From then, Rafael began to build a great empire with Pollo Loco franchises in Stockton, Merced, Modesto, Turlock, Manteca and Sacramento. To date, Rafael owns eight El Pollo Loco restaurants under the company he owns named Nor-Cal Chicken, Inc.

Rafael is an example of what hard work can do. He is a successful businessman and a wonderful addition to Cien Amigos.
