La Raza Lawyers Association of Sacramento has approved a resolution officially changing the organization’s name to the “Cruz Reynoso Bar Association” in honor of its founding member, the Honorable Cruz Reynoso.  Justice Reynoso is the first Latino appointed to the California Supreme Court and the 3rd District Court of Appeal. He is recognized nationally for his leadership in civil rights, immigration and refugee policy, and legal services for the poor. Among his many achievements, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton in 2000 and served on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and Select Commission on Immigration and Human Rights. Justice Reynoso has been on the faculty of UCLA School of Law, University of New Mexico Law School, and is currently teaching at U.C. Davis King Hall School of Law. Justice Reynoso is a graduate of Pomona College and U.C. Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law.
