Mexico Advocacy Day
Since 2010, the Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento has organized a California-Mexico promotion day in the California State Capitol around a specific topic, with the participation of experts from public, private and civil society from both Mexico and the U.S.
The mission is to increase the relevance of Mexico’s relationship with the United States and the State of California, by raising awareness for issues of common interest and providing a platform for dialogue and understanding. The purpose is to encourage ties with California State Legislators, government officials, policy advisors and interest groups involved in policy formulation and decision making processes at state level and to expand the portfolio of issues of bilateral interest and identifying common ground to articulate opportunities for bolstering common economic growth and prosperity.
Previous years have included Committee Hearings on the following topics:
- Border Crossing Facilitation and Disaster Coordination
- California-Mexico past relationship, future recommendations and California-Mexico trade relationship and its impact on job creation in California.
- Mexico’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and opportunities for cooperation between Mexico and California against global warming.
- Strengthening California and Mexico higher education partnerships.
